Wärtsilä: Boosting Vessel efficiency
Technical meeting for WARTSILA Propulsion Boosting Vessel efficiency.
On the occasion of the new partnership between WARTSILA Propulsion and OCEANKING SA , the two companies organized a technical meeting in “Wartsila Propulsion Boosting Vessel efficiency”.
The event was held at Intercontinental Hotel and it was very successful in terms of attendance and interest while many technical issues were presented and discussed.
With the emphasis given on propeller hydrodynamics through ship design optimization, Mr. Nobert Bulten, Product performance Manager, Propellers and Gearboxes, focused on Wartsila’s goal of propulsion boosting vessel efficiency, by exploiting all latest developments in propulsion technology, concentrating on the actual vessel operation.
Mr. Joop van der Heijden, Manager, propulsion sales, assent management services, sale and sales support, presented the EnergoFlow and the EnergoProFin, recent developments which improve fuels efficiency up to 10%, reduces NOx and CO2 emissions, providing a quick return on investment, one to two years with no additional maintenance as the solution has no moving parts.
Finally, Mr. Elias Boletis, Wartsila’s director propellers and gearboxes presented the latest news and the vision from Wartsila propulsion, referring to the Wartsila’s SMART marine vision pointed out that efficiency is high in the agenda and that they are working together with the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and Southampton University on propulsion systems to reduce fuel consumption.
